I am in charge of updating our website and copy and paste a lot from Word documents. I was told to save the files as plain text before copying and pasting to eliminate formatting errors. I am still getting ? where there are quotation marks and apstrophes etc. Very frustrating, because they don't show up while editing or sometimes even viewing. It is after I log out as an administrator that I can see where the errors show up. Any help is greatly appreciated, there has to be solution. Thanks in advance for your help!

why don't you try "Paste from word" button inside the rich text editor?

I was doing that first and when I had the same problem, someone else suggested the saving as plain text and then copying and pasting. If I am the only one having this problem, I must be doing something wrong...thanks for your reply

Mary,

When I get a word doc I find the best way to copy and paste is to grab paragraph by paragraph and paste into Notepad first, then copy and paste from notepad. This removes all the Word formatting and is by far the most effective option I've used. Granted it does take slightly longer, but having nice clean HTML code is worth it I think.

Regards,

Rick.

there seems to be a problem with your original text - or the module on the target site. usually, both should use unicode (UTF-8) and properly transfer all characters.
