Hello

I cannot upload large files using File Manager.  I did a search and found that in the past the following line in the web.config file should be modified:

<httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="8192" requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192" requestValidationMode="2.0" />

where the 8192 in the above line represents a 8mb limit on the size of file you can uplaod to your site. The post I read said to modify this value to a larger number to allow larger files. The thing is, my version of web.config does not have this httpRuntime line in it?? Was it removed from the latest version of DNN (I am running 5.6).

Thanks

Dave

That's odd - the <httpRuntime . . . > node should be located in the <system.web> section of web.config. If not, you can add it. Here's a link to the MSDN documentation for this element for additional information:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libra...

If your site is running under ASP.Net 4.0 rather than 3.5 SP1, use the version selecter at the top of the documentation to go to the reference documentation for ASP.Net 4.0.

Most likely you will also need to specify the executionTimeout attribute as well as it's default is 110 seconds for ASP.Net 2 and 3.5 and 90 seconds for ASP.Net 4.0.

But, if you really wish to upload something over 8MB size I highly recommend to use FTP instead. FTP is much faster.

Oliver Hine also has a very nice FREE upload module designed for very large files available on his site (just google him and you'll find his site)
