Hi,

I have an existing web application that has been developed in php and mysql. We are in the process of scrapping the existing portal and are re-developing this using dotnetnuke. Now i have to import data that is there in the mysql database to my dotnetnuke application. i have to migrate users, news, blogs, photos etc.. from the existing database.

Could anyone help me out with this situation? I am under sever time constraint!!

Thanks in advance!!

Regards,
KK

Here is how you can export your data from MySQL to MSSQL.

http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/migrate-mysql-to-mssql.aspx

As for merging your data, I am not aware of anything that will take another CMSs data and just import it into DNN, you will have to do this manually.

Thank you,

For users you may want to have a look a one of the bulk user import modules on snowcovered
http://www.snowcovered.com/Snowcovere...

You will need to first extract your user list from php and get it into a csv format file - but the importer will then handle the process of getting that list of users setup in dnn.

For each other module in php - things will be more difficult - they all use different types of parameters and config settings.

Many dnn modules support import of content using an xml format in some way shape or form.  However not all work in the same way. And each cml format is very different.  Also some modules dont import CONTENT instead only dealing with layout.

I would start with a module on dnn - put some data into it - say a couple of blogs - depending on which blogging module u are using - and hit export - example the xml output this generates - then look at if you can  create a similar stream from php.

Least this is in theory - your mileage may vary.
