I had a website set up by a UK company over the past 2 years...... and they made it on dotnetnuke - maybe community but could be professional. I looked at the online tour demo at dnn but it seems only to cover Professional version - if I try to add a page then the screen I see has only a couple of columns in the permissions section and not the 10 or so as shown in the demo. But maybe the company I used are restricting my access in some way and this is why I cannot see what the online demo shows?

I have never set up a website and do not understand much of the jargon. All I need to do is change various aspects - words and pictures (add in / change / delete) on my site.

Are there any simple videos - maybe on youtube that actually explain in human (not geek) language how to do this?

At present I have paid out a bundle and got a totally unusable site because the company I used took over 4 x the time to create it and both ignored what I asked them to put on and same for what I asked them not to put on. So I am stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi JGBP, if you're on Professional Edition you'd be paying $2,000 a year so that's a sure way to check which version you're on.

Have you checked out the videos section http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/VideoLibrary/tabid/1607/Default.aspx and downloaded the manuals http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Manuals/tabid/1667/Default.aspx. Both good places to start.

I also find the DNN Creative Magazine at www.dnncreative.com videos and forums good as well (about $70 a year).

And get the web company to give you the host and admin login details.

If you need a hand in learning the basics I would be happy to help.

You will need at least the "Admin" userid and password. If you can get the "Host" userid and password that would be even better.

I can provide you with a 'walk-thru' of your site and how to manage it.
I usually charge $60.00 for a 1 hour walk through.
It includes answering any questions you may have as well as any maintenance / upgrade advice I think you should have.

If you are interested then please contact me via the "Contact Us" page of my website.
