Hello,

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to import pages into DNN. The data is coming from a custom cms system created using php/mysql. It's not a mainstream cms system like drupal, joomla, etc. So I'm sure the data will not correlate apples to apples with DNN. I've read lots of articles about importing users but not pages. The data for the pages will be provided in a MS Excel file. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Albert

If you try this solution - BE SURE TO ATTEMPT ON A LOCAL INSTALL - and best to have it backed up so you can easily revert as you attempt it.  And of course - always backup your live install before attempting.

In your dnn install go to Portals/_default - and look at the Default Website.template file - it's all xml but lays out the default DNN site.  The section you're most interested in is the TABS  tag - that's your page.

<tabs>
    <tab>
      <name>Home</name>

Then you can lay out your content via the PANES section w/i TAB

I'd suggest just copying and reusing the Tab - layout for home and adjust for your pages.

Then when you want to import - (rename the file) blah.template - and put it back in to the Portals/_default folder.

Now - we're almost done:   Go to Admin - Site Wizard - and then you should see your template there - and proceed.

Saved lots of time!!!
