Hi,

all module spezific files have to be deployed into the module package and folders.  Add a image folder to your module project and then add all your images for your module in this folder. Module files and folders have not to be deployed to the ..\Portals\ID\.. folder!

For deployment create a manifest file and add them to your project.  To create a install package you can use the create Module feature on extensions or you can also use MS-BUILD on your project to create install and source packages.

Note:
There are some new features for DNN 6.0 manifests eg. a module image.

Thanks i have added the images to the .dnn file and its deploy to the directory desktopmodules/mymodule

but when i add into the .dnn file the tags:

<file>
<name>download.aspx</name>
</file>

the installation fails with the error that the file download.aspx doesnt exists...

has the file been added to your package? using the package manager in Host > Extensions, it should be easy to exxtend your manifest.
