Can someone please answer the next couple of questions for me?

  1. What version of the .Net Framework is the latest release of DNN written in?
  2. Is it in WebForms or MVC?
  3. When upgrading from a current version of DNN (one that was used with Visual Studio 2003), how do I go about upgrading the application?
    1. When upgrading the application, what does the upgrade include?
      1. Does it include a .Net framework upgrade?
      2. Does it include an upgrade to the logic in the web site, css, etc?

4. How do install the latest copy of DNN as a fresh install and not an upgrade?
5. After the download finishes, where are the .Net files for DNN?

1. DotNetNuke requires .net 3.5sp1 but will also work with .net 4.0

2.it is a webforms app, though we also use webformsmvp to deliver many of the benefits of MVC (http://webformsmvp.com/)

3. the upgrade package contains all the files necessary to upgrade a site -if upgrading from a very early version we will also update the .net 2.0 refernces in the web.config (where required) to use .net 3.5sp1. However you must make sure you have installed this version in advance. You can read more about upgrades at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W... and see a suggested upgrade path at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...

Cathal, thanks for the reply...

I will check out those links you sent....

I want to see the physical .Net files that come with a DNN download. My job is to enhance several pages within the site, but I have no idea what a fresh install looks like as far as the files go. I'm expecting a .Net project to be downloaded into a directory somewhere on my local drive with the .Net files, but don't see it.

How can I accomplish this?

you may download install package from dotnetnuke.codeplex.com, unblock and unzip it into a properly configured IIS web site. The application will install, once you browse the site.
