I am new to both CMS and DNN. I have downlaoed DNN 6.1 and then did some minor changes in the home page text and menus via DNN Admin and host modules. Then uploaded all my website content from my local machine to my webhsoting httpdocs folder but i am getting the error below

http://www.XXXXX.com/Install/UnderCon...

can someone let me know how to start and debug where exactly i am getting error.

I am plannign to up my site by Christmas with some basic stuff, any help in rectifying my problem is greatly appreciated.

The "under construction" page is usually an indication that DotNetNuke cannot connect to it's database - which is not unusual following moving the site from one server to another.

In addition to moving the installation's files to your shared hosting provider's httpdocs folder, did you backup your MS SQL Server database on your local installation and then restore it to your hosting provider's MS SQL Server?

Did you modify both (2) connection strings in web.config with the correct information as to the new MS SQL server's address, database name, userid and password?

Most likely you will need the assistance of your hosting provider in restoring the database. Some providers allow you to handle that yourself via their hosting control panel, a web-based database admin tool, or remotely via SQL Server Management Studio or other similar too. Others will handled the restore from a backup file for you whlle some such as GoDaddy require you to "publish" or script the database to their server.

Here's an article that gives a brief summary of the migration process from one server to another:

Thank You Very Much for the reply.

I have another question the DNN version in my local machine is 6.1.2 where as the version in my hosting provider is 6.0.0.4 will it make any difference?
