Is there a module that will list events in order of the date they happen, then automatically delete the event once the day is over? I would need it to be small enough to be placed on a sidebar that's about 200-225 pixel wide.

The default Events module in List View with a customized Repeater display should work.

I'll try it out and see. Is there a way to use it in list view on the home page and calendar view on a page of its own and only enter data one time for both?

Yes...by using the SubCalendar features.

I believe there is documentation available for the Events module on its projects page.

I'm new with this. Can you point me to the "project page"?
