Hi Everyone,

I am hoping someone has an answer to this. I saw someone else asked a similar question but I didn't see an answer on how to solve this.

I have been having a lot of users call me and say the registration is broken. They say that they try and create a registration and it shows the loading circle finished and then goes right back to the registration page. After it happened twice but worked for me I looked into the threads and noticed that it could be a password issue. Seems to be true that although I don't know why anyone would use less than 4 characters people are.

Is there a way to set a invalid password to short. I even tried when I registered for the forum and it didn't give me a warning it just sent me back to the login screen until I set my password a good legnth.

I appreciate any help on how to add this warning.

This should be showing a warning by default. Are you using a third-party module for registration such as Dynamic Registration or similar?

Hi Chris,

As Mitchel says there *should* be a warning by default but a recent upgrade introduced a bug whereby it doesn't. IIRC this should be fixed on the next release.

Another thread did give some code to display the error message but I forgot to bookmark it and I can't find it now. Maybe someone could repost it.

The default password length is 7 characters, which to my mind is too short. You can, I believe, reset this in the webconfig file but I wouldn't recommend changing it to less than 7.

I always add a 'How To Register' page on my sites explaining the registration process including the password requirements.
