Hi folks,

I am building a simple module "based on book 'DotNetNuke Module Programming', and I have a question regarding one line withing the code-behind of the View.aspx form.

It is:  "If CType(Settings("WroxModules_Guestbook_SignModule"), String) <> "" then....

My question is...what the heck is "Settings" all about.  Where is it defined? and how did "WroxModules_Guestbook_SignModule", become part of it?

Thanks for any info

Settings is the hash table available for ModuleSettings and TabModuleSettings which comes from the PortalModuleBase class.

The specific setting is defined by the developer, in that case WroxModules_Guestbook_SignModule

It would typically be added via a Settings user control, often times settings.ascx, in which you allow administrators to configure settings for your module.

As another option for getting started I would recommend checking out the 25 part module development tutorial in the Wiki
