Folks,

I have a DNN site on a new host. I am testing the performance of the site on this host as the performance of the site on my current host, Godaddy,  is unacceptable. The site is very basic, with no custom modules, skins, or anything else. It is for an organization with very basic information. I copied the site to my development computer, upgraded to DNN 6 and it works great. I am trying Arvixe as a hosting site as I have had good luck with them for other non-DNN asp.net sites. I copied the files to my Arvixe test hosting site, resored the database to the host sql server and theoreticly have it set to go. The big issue I face is that I don't want to redirect the url to this host until I do some testing and see what the performance is. Arvixe gave me a temporary url of "http://augsd.org.lin.arvixe.com". I put "augsd.org.lin.arvixe.com" in the Portal Alias table for the portal. When I go to the site I get an error message:

-------------------------------------------------------------------start clip of top of error-------------------------

DotNetNuke Error

Domain Name Does Not Exist In The Database

DotNetNuke supports multiple portals from a single database/codebase. It accomplishes this by converting the URL of the client browser Request to a valid PortalID in the Portals database table. The following steps describe the process:

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Any idea what I should put in the portals Alias table. I am getting to the directory, but DNN isn't recognizing the request.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Doug

You can try the same thing on your local machine, put the name in the 'hosts' file, point it to 127.0.0.0 and add to the portal alias table. and try it out.
