Hi,

I'm new to DNN and installed my first site using the Web Platform Installer in IIS to set up the site. Now I want to be able to work on it in Visual Studio 2010. How do I go about setting up that project?

I've tried Open > Web Site and when I build I get 71 errors saying "Default parameter specifiers are not permitted, all of them but one in App_SubCode_RazorHelpers.yf_lauel.0.cs.

Where do I go from here?

Peter,

When you downloaded your installation of DNN, did you also download the source files?  In order to work on the site within VS you need the appropriate source files.  If you did the install only, it is just the precompiled files that won't allow for working with it directly, you must also have the source files.   If you install the source files locally on your machine you will find a visual studio project called DotNetNuke_Community_Source.  Here are a few really good resources for how to get the project up and running for development and so on.

Also, here's a great step-by-step for building modules including getting the framework to load from Steve Fabian, I think this series of articles is awesome hands-down:

Dustin,

That video link was perfect. Just what I needed. Thanks! I'll just have to try out these things on my own now and then perhaps come back for some more noob topics later on.

Thanks again!
