Hi

I just installed dnn today. I don't know where to start? I want to try and build a website, but also use a bit of code behind (maybe some javascript or csharp). is this possible?

I tried intergrating dnn with visual studio 2010 and failed miserably. I tried many many links and videos, and none seemed to work... from downloading templates through the web, converting them, downloading templates through vs2010 itself, following video tutorials etc.

I got to the point where i had the dotnetnuke template from the web, but after adding the dotnetnuke.dll into the project, it gives me errors like 'the type or namespace dotnetnuke could not be found ...etc'

Also I was wondering what is required to host a dnn site? I have some space + bandwidth with auhost4u, but they only seem to support asp.net (it doesnt say what version).

thanks

devydev,

If you're looking to start to code DNN, you'll want to look in to developing modules. You can also start working with skins. Both topics should have blogs or posts on the DNN website to get you started.

Don't worry about opening DNN In Visual Studio. You don't need to do that. If you decide to create modules, you can use Visual Studio and piggy back off the base install of your DNN website. That's what I do.

As far as installing DNN on your hosting account, you can upload the unzipped files and install it there but it may take some effort depending on your account and how much access you have to the server. I recommend speaking with the hosting company to see if they can install it for you.

Good luck.

Mark
