How can we retrieve data from the DNN database and display it in our site.

I mean i want to know how data retrieval can be done using DNN database.

you may either use a generic module like SQLGridSelectView from www.tressleworks.ca or create your own custom modules (see training videos and tutorials on this site or dnncreative.com)

I wanted to know that if adding modules is the only way to access the data from  the DNN database..Is there any other alternative besides adding modules.

Please let me know if there are other possible ways of retrieving or inserting data in the database..

Not recommended: SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).

Most of the data-access in DNN happens using cached data, so manipulating the data directly in the database with any tool can cause unpredictable side-effects. On the other hand, it requires a bit of knowledge about the data structure.

You can also query and manipulate the data on the Host :: SQL page, but again, this could lead to an outdated cache, module malfunction etc.
