Is there a way to set up links to files which are more user-friendly than /LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=ZBwditCVzvs%3d&tabid=40 ?

I would like to have links to .pdfs which the user can see the actual name of the .pdf document.  So that when the user saves the document, they don't just get a name of LinkClick.pdf, they get the actual real file name.

Is there a way? Thanks

Tom

Tom,

if you don't want to log/track the clicks, you can link with http://www.mydomain.com/Portals/x/Path/To/File/Filename.ext

where x = PortalId

The disadvantage of this method is that links will be broken when you rename the file or move it to another folder.

Does this help?

Best wishes
Michael

Right. Thanks Michael. I do see that now.

Isn't it also the case that re-naming or moving files when using the LinkClick method still breaks the link? That's been my experience.

Tom,

that should not be the case, as LinkClick.aspx uses a FileID. But I am not too sure...

Best wishes
Michael
