Hi,

I'm new at DNN7 and I have a fundermental question. I've already installed DNN7 in my server. Also the new social features like the "journal", "groups" etc. work perfect. Great stuff! Now I want to connect an android app(or other external system) to my DNN.

My test-application should display all my journal posts on the app(for example).  the communication between  android and the webserver is done by  a WCF REST/SOAP web service. My questing now is, what is best practice to get the data from my journal/other modules to my WCF services. for me it is not clear how to accessthe module data from outside. (The WCF services and the DNN are deployed on the same IIS)

In some marketing slides, i found something about a "social api" or "service layer". but till now, iI can't find a good documentation about this. is there no documentation about that?

maybe someone can help me, or give my some keywords/hints about this topic :)  THANK YOU!

BR Michael

You should look at the Services Framework to build this:

I've never seen a clean services framework area for a social API, each module uses it's own. I would check out the Journal module that comes with DotNetNuke for the example.
