Hi all and thanks for taking the time to read. When I was in my teens, I was able to write htlm script but have forgotten most of it as the brain needed to make room and must have trashed that section. I recently volunteered to Admin a site for my neighborhood as I work nights and have some down time to play with it.  When I logged in, I was amazed as to how much easier it is to add pages and tables  it came a long way from when I last played with this stuff!

I am attempting to make a registration page(in DNN 5.6.2) for residence in the community to sign in so that way things can be secure and only for those who are permitted.  I figured out how to make the page under users and roles and have the registration link point to the page I made. What I want/was asked to do was make more fillable fields/terms of service check Box so it would look like this(but better):

User Name: _____________

First Name: _____________

Last Name: ______________

Address:________________

E-mail:__________________

Password:_______________

Confirm Password:_____________

By checking the box below I agree to bla bla bla...........

(Insert Check Box Here)   (Insert Submit Button Here)

Also if this is achievable, is there a way to set it only to accept certain addresses (Ex. if "Address" =/Contains 1st Street; 2nd Street; 3rd Street, Ect. Street then  proceeded, otherwise reject) (Sorry I write a lot of code in a program like Excell and that is the easiest way for me to explain). Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Hi,

It seems that you are trying to build a custom module which will work as registration page. According to your requirement, when user will check the check box at the bottom, then few new fields will appear for address. You will have to add some validations to the address fields so that it will take particular values only.
These validations can be implemented either by using javascript or asp.net custom validators.

You can also look for third party modules like dynamic  form module from dataspring.

Thanks,

Hi,

you don't need to write a custom module. Check out Chris Hammond's video "Customizing user registration within DotNetNuke 6.2" in the Video Library.

Best wishes
Michael

The two easiest ways are listed (buy a module, or customize the registration module). Just make sure that when if you go the route of changing the registration module create a backup after you're done. @Michael, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that when you make the changes to the registration module if you go to update the installation those changes will be over written and you will have to go back and change it again.

I am almost positive this will happen if you change core components, just something to be aware of.

Johnny,

I can't correct you - as I don't know. I have never tried this feature in a production environment, and my testing environments are deleted from time to time, so I never experienced any problem with updates (as I never do them on the playgrounds). Before updating a production site, I copy it to a testing environment, and try the update. If it works, I apply it to the production site. And my development environment is another thing, as there is nothing I do except developing. Therfore, I do not have an answer, except: If this is like you say, it should be tracked in Gemini (as long as it is not yet).
