Hi everyone,

Couple of days ago I saw a checkbox to enable debug mode in the admin panel. Now I can't find it.  Does anyone know where I can find it?

Thanks

I haven't heard of a built-in debug mode for DNN... by any chance are you thinking of dnnGlimpse? (In which case it can be turned on using Host -> Advanced -> Manage Glimpse)

thanks

Kris

you're correct Kathy, it was new in 7.2.1. However nothing in the platform uses it yet - the request (and code contribution) came from a module developer who wanted a platform value his modules could check and use to decide the level of logging/diagnostics i.e. a way to switch on debug on a production server without having to change debug="true" in web.config (which impacts performance). Over time I imagine lots of module developers will use this new value (many of them already use hacks such as adding ?debuginfo=true to the querystring and detecting that in their modules) -the value can be found at host->host settings->other settings "debug mode" (the helptext reads "If checked the installation runs in "debug mode", meaning that various parts of the application will write more verbose error logs etc. Note this may lead to performance degradation")

That is a great feature, thank you for adding that!

thanks goes to Peter Donker who suggested it and sent the pull request (through we tweaked it a little). We like it to and are going to start using it in some platform scenarios.
