Greetings!

I really enjoy using DNN as CMS and it's features. I have a few questions though for which I can't seem to find proper resources for solutions. I decided perhaps forums would help me eventually! My question is: Is there a limitation in numbers to creating child sites and parent sites using

a) DNN Community Edition

b) DNN Professional Edition

c) DNN Enterprise Edition

Thanks!

there are no differences between the editions regarding core functions like portal support and there are no technical limitations (besides max(integer)), however, management tools are not optimized for more than a few dozens or hundreds of sites within a single DNN instance.

Thanks a lot for the reply Sebastian!

So technically if I created a single parent portal and say around 100 child portals within it, if my IIS is configured to handle such a huge traffic over these sites, it still should be fine? DNN will work unhindered across all these sites or are there any hardware limitations that we need to consider before attempting such a creation?

yes, it's purely a matter of resources (e.g. CPU/RAM/servers) - we've had users with thousands of childsites that have ran without issue (one university gave every student, professor and building their own childsite). However in many cases these are poor designs e.g. in the example I gave they could have created a module that allowed everyone their own custom page. DNN would scale much better with thousands of pages, rather than thousands of child sites (as each child site is actually multiple pages)
