FYI The Evoq products are collections of integrated modules that build on the DNN framework -the page at http://www.dnnsoftware.com/platform/s... has a useful diagram which shows how they site on top of DNN (and use many DNN API's and functions such as security, skinning, permissions etc.)

The success network is the name for the support area for Evoq customers i.e. when you're a customer you can raise (unlimited)support tickets, access additional product manuals, download copies of Evoq, access your licence details etc.

Note: Evoq social contains a social groups module, similar to the social groups module built into DNN platform - you can do free online trials of both Evoq products at http://www.dnnsoftware.com/solutions/...

In this context the definition of "DNN Framework" is critical. If it is the same software as DNN CE then that is an important clarification. If however the DNN Framework is something different (such as the DNN API?) then I think that it is the same type of terminology that many businesses use to mislead people.

Also, does Evoq Social support creation of groups in the same manner as the Social Module does for DNN? If not then that is a critical distinction.

Note that trying software requires learning the software and that might require a month of time just to determine if the requirements are satisfied. Personally, I will assume that I cannot afford Evoq so I will not invest the time to learn it.

I hope these clarifications do however help others.

dnn framework is simply dotnetnuke ce (and evoq content is simply what dotnetnuke pe used to be) - see http://www.dnnsoftware.com/community-... . The WebAPI service framework is built into dnn framework so anything can use it.

The key difference between dnn framework social groups and evoq social social groups is that evoq social has much more tightly integrated modules (wiki, documents, discussion), as well as supporting gamification (so actions of users in a social group can be scored and measured). In addition they have different concepts such as the community manager role, which has a separate UI to quickly highlight activity. From a programming perspective Evoq Social builds upon the social API in dnn framework (e.g. social groups, notifications, messages, profiles etc.), as well as adding some complementary, tightly integrated modules

Cathal,

The fact that you have to answer questions here in the forum about what EVOQ Social and EVOQ Content are is a clear sign that the DNN website is not clear enough, or descriptive enough on what these products are and what they can do.

The description for EVOQ content is only one paragraph! (http://www.dnnsoftware.com/solutions/... )

Even 9 months after the launch of EVOQ the website still does not do a good job of explaining what DNN Platform, EVOQ Social and EVOQ Content are. I have sent clients to this site and they just come back to me with more questions. They feel more confused about what DNN is.

FYI people dont want to download a trial unless they can read enough information first that it is worth downloading. People also don't want to have to "contact someone for more information", unless they know it is worth their time, as they know they will likely have to deal with an aggressive sales person who now has their contact details.

I wonder how many people have come to the site wanting to learn more about DNN only to leave confused

Thank you. I see the article says that DotNetNuke Community Edition is now called DNN Platform.

When I said "DNN API" I was not referring to the WebAPI, I was referring to the DotNetNuke API.

It still is not clear what the difference is between Evoq Content (formerly DotNetNuke Professional Edition) and DNN Platform (formerly DotNetNuke Community Edition). The fact that they are separate products implies there is a difference.

In addition to what was said about requesting a quote for a price and getting information from a sales person, I honestly do not want to talk about my project if there is no benefit in doing so. Evoq feels a need to have secrets and so do I.
