How do you add a module, other than Banners, to a page?
I've just upgraded to 7.3.4 and if I choose a module (any module) it always adds the Banner module - even if you choose HTML module, for instance.

I'm using the default skin that DNN installed (Dark Knight), logged on as Host. The modules show up in Add a new module drop down list but no matter which one you choose, it adds Banner.

Please help, I don't need 17 Banner modules on my page! Adding modules worked fine before upgrade.

Are you sure the update completed successfully?
Alternatively, that sort of issue is often symptomatic of a javascript type error - which can be caused by your browser cache still holding on to older version of a script file.

If you are using minified css/js via the client resource management system
- you might want to try incrementing the Host Version.

Or even a forced reset of your browser cache.

Update said successful. Unlikely browser cache issue as I tried in IE, FF and chrome. No client resource management. And FF crashes about twice a day, causing a complete reset.

I did notice one thing - switched from ribbon bar to control panel (wow is that ugly/unreadable - black on black - but that is another story)

In control panel I can add any module. You just see only a square (rectangle) where the module should be. Yes, I'm in edit mode and host. But now if you switch back to ribbon panel, you see the module and edit/move controls.

If I remember version 5 or 6 had similar problem, something to do with web.config? Just can't find notes. And no, this site wasn't updated. Clean 7.2 install to 7.3.4 update.

I had the same thing: the irony is that I skipped 7.3.3 and awaited weeks to get on 7.3.4 because the ribbonbar adding module bug was announced to be fixed there. It got much worse instead (and I completely share your comment about the controlbar). To the point I was switching bars whenever I needed a new module (as in 7.3.3).

I was using a 7-compatible skin, by the way.

But at some point I resolved it: I think it was a mix of running Sebastian's script (although not using localization), installing the openurlrewriter, upgrading ckeditor and a couple of other things. I wish I could be more precise and I will post more if it comes to mind.

Still very buggy, though, was working so well on dnn6. I am tempted to use the suggested Oliver Hine's bar, but wish I could avoid adding more stuff.

Had the same issue with a recent site. Switched the control panel and it worked. May be an issue with the bootstrap skin I was using, but I did not get too deep into it.
