Hi,

If a customer is using PE and does not want to renew license, can they still continue to use their older version or do they need to downgrade to CE version.

if you want to switch from PE to CE, you need to modify the installation, as you are not allowed to continue using some parts (e.g. HTML Pro module).
I suggest contacting one of the experienced integrators like Mitchel Sellers or Oliver Hine.
