I was looking for good website content management software and DNN appeared to be the answer.  I am totally new to DNN, so I downloaded the latest version and watch four videos on how to install DNN 7.  I had a few problems, but finally got it to run.  On the first page of the DNN website, there was a Getting Started video which talked about a DNN installed website call "Awesome Cycles".  Come to find out, that website is no longer created by the install, nor can I find the source anywhere.  So why even have the video listed on the installed webpage?

I than searched the Internet for "Getting started with DNN" and found a list of videos on DNN website.  However, when I tried to run the videos "Basic Dotnetnuke Module Development" and "Basic Dotnetnuke Administration", I got a message that the videos no longer existed.  At this point, I am beginning to wonder if DNN is the correct choice.

Where can one find a reliable source on how to use DNN 7?  I would like to start off with something simple like a rotating Banner, but were does one place the pictures?  I am having doubts that DNN is the right choice even the installed version has a bad "Getting Started" video.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Unfortunately the "one reliable source" for DNN has always eluded the project/company.

I created most of the videos you've likely seen, though others have created many videos as well since my departure from Corp.

I may have left corp, and haven't had time to create the videos I used to, but that being said, I still believe DNN is a great platform to use and learn.

You will find that asking questions here, or in the Community Voice will probably be your best easy access to free support. You can also check out resources from DNNHero, though I think they might have a paid subscription model.

I'll take a little time to tout my own option, if you want to interact with a chat room check out dnnchat.com I provide live support there for free (though my availability can be random).

Don,

Generally all of our videos link to our YouTube Channel.  You can go there directly while we work on fixing the links in our video library.

Hi Don,

Another place you can have a look at is a blog series by Clint Patterson.

The blog includes videos and detailed instruction on how to develop a module for Dnn but it also runs through setting up a Dnn install. The blog series starts here.

The blog you should look at is number 4 'Installing Dnn'

For the usage of Dnn there is also a Manual section on this site found here. The manuals include usage for the site administrator and the install host.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Geoff
