Okay so I've been reading and watching videos on dnn for like 2 days now and in the process an idea popped in my head and I wanted to know if this is possible with dnn...

Assuming I want to make a community website for a company that is split into IT and Sales department and I want the IT people to only communicate with IT guys , likewise sales guys(this is just an example). Is it possible to create the site and have 2 different sets of communities without each of them "knowing" the other exists or it can only be achieved by using different websites

it depends on the other requirements, wether you create a single Website with multiple social groups or individual sites (eventually within a site group) for each department.

Thank you so much for your reply!

My confusion(for lack of a better descriptive word) is: is it possible to make different groups, some for IT and some for Sales and the sales guys can only see and post on the groups related to sales and likewise IT. Is it possible to "hide" the non-sales related groups from the sales workers and the same for IT within one particular website

Sorry if my question is quite amature

Hi,

You're idea is so interesting. Very witty. I think that is possible but the only question is how? If somebody can answer this, I know this would be a of great help for companies wanting to have privacy or even owners of different websites. Well this is sort of a useful tool to minimize the flooding of forums. Hmmm.. But I think it is better if you will not totally hide it but just simply don't allow anybody to get in that specific page of the website. It's like filtering. I don't know if I sound something with sense but it's just an idea. Thanks!

You may use permission and restrict Access (write or all) to the proper groups only, this way sales guys will have access to their own section only.
