Hi everyone,

I've had some experience with DNN in the past, but only as a content implementer/editor. I'm looking to get more in to building and maintaining more aspects of a DNN site though.

One question in particular that I have is if in a situation where I want to retain the ownership of the domain name of two separate sites, but also combine all content on to one central hub of a site, would child portals or parent portals be the best course of action?

I looked at a couple of the videos up on the library, and the latter made it look like the domain had to be the same on the child portal. Could the child portal have a domain that's entirely different from the main portal (which I assume would be a parent portal)

If there are multiple domain names, make them both parent portals. Child portals are useful for having another site that utilizes a domain name that another Portal already uses.

Awesome! Thanks Chris! Another question regarding Parent Portals: Can two parent portals run on the same server? So you have a DNN site, with a secondary parent portal, can both portals run on that server with minimal fuss and/or muss?

Absolutely, super easy to do both on the same server. If you are managing IIS personally, you can setup one "site" with multiple HOST BINDINGS, or you can have individual Sites in IIS, but I would recommend one site.
