Hi all,

Hope someone on here can help me with this.  I'll admit from the outset I have no experience with asp.net or DNN.  I've recently started a small web hosting company to make some extra cash so my wife can become a kept woman lol.

I have a client who wants to switch over to hosting their site with me (I'm using 1and1 shared windows hosting), their current hosts have provided the website files and SQL Server DB backup.  The site has been created using DNN.  I had hoped it would just be a case of uploading the site and database to the server, pointing the Domain at the new folder, update the web config file with the new connection details for the database and it would all work... But it's not working.

I get the following error:

HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error

The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.

In the config source box of the error page it has -1: 0:

Is what I'm trying to do not going to work or am I doing something really special?  Not sure what info you need so I'll leave it there for now.

Hope someone can help

Thanks

Alex

Hi Alex,

What you need to check:

1. Your connection string. When you migrated to new hosting provider, you need to check the connection string again
2. DNN seems have issue with PortalAlias table. You can ask your developer to check it for you.
3. Don't forget to give full permission

Internal server error is generic issue, you need to copy full error message here.

Hi Alex,

Please check PortalAlias table for correct HTTPAlias entry. For permission, network service give full control and also try for IUSR permissions. Usually its folder permissions issue or portal alias entry. Also there are some IIS setting which might need to be checked.

Thanks,
Varun
