Our admin published a PDF and then we announced a link to the PDF in an email to our users with an explicit version number (file.pdf?ver=2018-03-08-130429-757). Almost immediately the need to make a change to this PDF became apparent.

  1) how do we replace that file such that the email link will still work

  2) how do we make sure that the version number never again appears in a URL - thereby avoiding the temptation to make such references version specific

Thanks for any ideas or doc to rtfm...

complete newby,
Mike.

That querystring is used fot cache busting. Basically if I saw the pdf using that link this morning and again tonight, my browser may show me a local copy instead of downloading it again. If you change the value to anything else then it forces the browser to actually go fetch it again. For people who never saw it in the past, it changes nothing, the actual current file will show
