I have some LDF files that are 1.5GB+ can anyone lend some insight as to why they get so big and how do I shrink them down? Thanks.

If you're using SQL2005 you can run
backup log [DBNAME] with no_log

Then Shrink the database using the Shrink tools in SQL Management Studio.

In SQL2008 the backup log w/ no_log doesn't work. You can simply backup the database using SSMS and then run the shrink tool

I'd recommend you set up a maintenance plan that does nightly backups, it will keep your database in good shape - theres more on this on the performance page on http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/tabid/1409/Page/Performance_best_practices/Default.aspx
