I am redeveloping our company website and have a question concerning how to make sure my indexed pages don't get lost. For example, my contact page URL was "/ContactUs/tabid/173/Default.aspx", but the new URL will be "/ContactUs.aspx". How do I ensure that I don't risk losing my indexed URLs. Do I use a 301 redirect? Can someone please give me some advice on how to correctly handle this issue? Thanks!

Thomas,

You should look at URLMaster from iFinity. It will automatically put the 301 from the standard DNN URL format in for you.

Thanks for the link Chris. I would really like to know the steps I need to take to manually create the redirects. Any links to online resources that could explain this better? Also, do I do this in the DNS, or do I do it in the Dotnetnuke application? Thanks!

If you have acces to IIS on the server.

You can do it with the IIS ReWrite Module :

http://www.iis.net/download/urlrewrite
