I build DNN websites and I'm considering getting a dedicated server to start hosting the sites myself, for my clients. I'll probably go with a host like GoDaddy for my server. My problem is that I don't know the ideal specs for hosting DNN sites, and how many sites the server can support without overloading or causing slowness for my clients. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Also, if you have any other recommendations besides GoDaddy for dedicated servers, let me know.

Another thing.... I have to use MS SQL Standard correct? Or Express? Which one?

Use PowerDNN. Forget Godaddy. PowerDNN knows DNN so not only are their servers tuned to run DNN fast, but the support is awesome when you have trouble.

Their prices are just a little too high. It's $280/month for their base server (with no additional software options). That server will support up to about 20 DNN installs. In my opinion, that's way too high.

I agree with Randy. Look at Dotnetpark for much better value and good familiarity with DNN as well.

I spent a not too fun four months with PowerDNN and don't quite agree about the "awesome" bit.

I've had good experience with AMHOSTING.com as well.  They also seem to know DNN pretty well.  Their dedicated servers start at $180
