Hello,
now that dnn6 is out, do we have a comparison for speed and resources needed to run it compared to dnn5.5.1 and dnn5.6, at least for the main framework and possibly with some basic modules?
I remember a thread discussing performance between dnn4.9.5 and various versions of dnn5, but I can no longer find it. It'd be nice to have something similar including 6.
Or can early adopters give us some performance feedback? And also whether or not 6 CE requires more memory, please.

Thanks

Franco

Theres a blog on 5.5 that showed it was faster than 4.9.5 - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/B... , and 6.0 is faster again (lots of small enhancements but primarily thanks to lots of localization fixes) - http://twitter.com/#!/robchartier/sta...

Well, in my shared hosting account (at 3essentials) DNN 6 was not faster from 5.6.3. It was slower but smoother.

The shared accounts have 100 mb of ded pool and maybe this is not enough for DNN 6 ? Because DNN 6 became a bit faster when i switched the Caching from Memory/Heavy to Disk/Heavy.

I would like to know also more details about memory different needs for DNN 6.

Thanks

Costas

To be honest, I found 5.6.2 faster than  version 6,  I agree 6 is smoother and and really cool, but a resource killer.

My website is on a dedicated server with Celeron , Windows 2008 Standard R2 (64), MS Sql  2008 Express, with I GB Ram only, and it is fast.

I did some small improvements like removed loads of unused  CSS Classes, and optimized images.

you may test it here and appreciate if you may give me your comments.

That was probably my thread.
I checked DNN6 release version and it has significantly higher payload in general, and many more requests when signed in for editing. It gets even worse PageSpeed and YSlow scores than the already terrible DNN5x and very average DNN4x. It was as low as 24 in my comparisons versus the upper 80s for my own streamlined 5.x system. As for server resources, you won't notice any difference... it's roughly the same as the previous releases.

With some modifications and your own skins, you can fix most issues. The menus and control panel can all be dumped, and the popups can be disabled, but the new action menus cannot be replaced, which for me is a showstopper at the moment.

If you're building a new site and you need to use DNN, and 6x has no showstopper bugs for you then there's no reason to shun it for 5x... and ultimately you'll have to go with 6 anyway.
