Hi

I have a DNN site running on a VM with 5G RAM, plenty of CPU etc. It is running DNN 5.6.1 (community edition)

I also have another .NET web application (not DNN) running on the server and it runs just fine.

I have read plently of posts that talk about the first page running slowly and using keepalive.aspx etc. but with my site everything is running slowly. The people that developed the site for me are talking about needing to run DNN on servers specially setup to host DNN but this seem pretty odd to me so I wanted to do some research.

Oddly when I login as HOST and click on "host" all the subsequent "host" related pages load quickly.

But if I click on "admin" or any other general site pages, ie. pages of my site (wether I am logged in as HOST or not) then the page load is very slow.

Many thanks for any thoughts or suggestions that you might have

Derek

how is your app pool set up? make sure to run it in integrated mode. besides, check recycle settings and make sure to log all recycles, subsequently you may get detailed Application Events in Windows Event log.

Hi Senastian,

Thanks for your response, but app pool is integrated and I have now turned on logging but as I move from page to page in the site (very slowly) I see no excessive logging event nothing to suggest the app pool is being recycled between page loads or anything like that.

Thanks
Derek

please check DNN host Settings for caching level, try "high" to reduce database calls.

Hi Sebastian,

I have set caching to high (heavy) and it made no difference. The site is only being accessed by me at the moment :)

Also I will just re state the fact that when I login as HOST and use the HOST pages of the site everything is just fine. But if I view ADMIN pages or general site pages everything is really slow.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might cause this? how are these things "different" given that all pages will load data from the database, all pages are being server from the same web root etc.

Also would DBB on a VM have problems given that the VM is well resourced?

Thanks
Derek
