Running Windows Server 2008 R2, IIS 7.0, HDD C: & D: 

I have a client running a legacy photo rendering software module in an instance of DNN 4.9.1. Due to the nature of their site, they require substantial disk space. 

If possible, I would like to map their photos folder (C:\.....\portals\0\photos\) to a folder on Drive D so that I can free up critical space on Drive C. What process should I use to accomplish this.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

I cannot answer the direct question.

Would it be easier just to shift the entire site to D:?

I tried that first and had no success so must have missed a step. I have never run into this before and so am unsure how to proceed . Do you have experience moving one site to a different drive while leaving the others on C:? I currently have 50+ sites active on the server.

Just to be clear here. By site I am thinking of a complete DNN install. This does NOT apply to a single portal in a DNN install.

Off the top of my head, I believe that all you need to do is:
- stop the site in IIS manager
- copy the site folder to its new home
- make sure that the new home allows permissions for the App Pool to access it - ie same as you have to when you set up a C drive site.
- in IIS manager change the site basic settings to point to the new home.

Restart the site. Sit back and watch it working. :-)

Delete the old folder to recover the space.

Tom, Folder Providers have been added in DNN 6.x, prior Versions are unable to use properly mapped network drives.
