I am new to DNN and I am trying to understand how file caching works. Where are the cache files stored and how does dnn render them? Is the actual html stored in flat files? I appreciate your help

Output Cache files for modules and pages are stored in Folder /Portals/_Default/Cache and /Portals/[portalid]-System/cache

The is an excellent free module "iFinity Cache Master for DotNetNuke" for download on codeplex

I tried it a couple of years ago (on ver 6.x)  and it worked like a gem, but since uninstalled it.

The stated purpose of the module:

"The primary use of this module is for development, to ensure that objects are cached as expected, for the lifetime that is expected. It also is a useful tool for troubleshooting live websites that are suffering performance problems, to monitor large (and expensive) items in the cache to ensure they are staying cached for the expected lifetime."
