Does anyone know how to go about auto creating a folder for each user upon registration to store images in?  A client of mine wants each person to be able to upload images to their own personal folder.  Also, does anyone know of an image uploader that allows you to store attributes for the image in the database, such as the image creation date, and other custom attributes for the image?

I haven't been able to find anything, so I'm guessing this is all going to have to be custom controls.

Justin, you need to consider all the use cases and if the modules can tie into folders for each user. It isn't enough just to create the folder, everything that access the folder needs to be adjusted for this (a gallery module, an HTML Provider, a profile avatar control, etc.). It would be easy enough to create a profile control that creates this folder then adds to it, or do it in the HTML Provider, for example (but again you face the problem I mentioned before).

As for the image uploader, when you upload it via the DNN API it will store some details as well as potentially the file in the database. For picture specific properties, some of this information is stored in the digital picture itself via EXIF (Exchangeable Image File) data (you can check out the core gallery module for how it uses this).

 Thanks for the help crispy.

The client isn't wanting to spend very much money, so it looks like both things you mentioned are out of the question.  What I will probably end up doing is just having him create a new page specifically for the user whenever they are registered.

Then for the image upload, what he is needing is a comment area to place info on the pic, like what it is in the picture and things of that nature.  So I'll probably just use the forms and list module so they can upload their pics and add any comments that they need to.

Finally he wants reports generated off of this data, so I'll use the report module to tap into the specific forms and list module by ID to pull the info for each user.

I know that's kind of a hacky way to go about it, but you've gotta do what you can with the budget provided.

I hear you Justin, we all have to work within budget constraints.
