Hello all,

I'm fairly new to the DotNetNuke platform.

I am trying to understand why the default MembershipProvider that DotNetNuke is just the standard ASP.NET SqlMembershipProvider when this won't populate the User table. I tried changing the web.config to use the D otNetNuke.Security.Membership.AspNetMembershipProvider, but I get an error saying the  AspNetMembershipProvider must implement MembershipProvider. I've looked at the source code and it does inherit from MembershipProvider, so can anyone tell me what I've done wrong? I tried everything. I've even opened the DLL in Reflector to make sure it does inherit from MembershipProvider, and it does!

Incase you are wondering, I am trying to replace the standard registration page so I can add extra fields. the aspnet_ tables and my custom tables are getting populated fine. But the users can't login, and it appears to be because the Users table doesn't get populated. Looking through the source code for the DotNetNuke MembershipProvider, that table would be populated!

Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated. This is driving me mad! :-)

Thanks
Amir

the users table is populated by the DotNetNuke membership provider, not by aspnetmembership provider. did you consider to add your custom fields to the user profile and require user profile for registration?

Yes, the Users table gets populated using the DotNetNuke MembershipProvider. But I try using that provider by changing the web.config file settings, but I get a configuration error that tells me that the DotNetNuke MembershipProvider must inherit from the MembershipProvider abstract class.

It does inherit from System.Web.Security.MembershipProvider, so I'm not sure why this is happening.

Any ideas as to why I get that error?
