If I was developing a DNN module, and I wanted to include the some dependent dll files to be deployed with the module, should they be placed with the module, or should I place them in with the GAC?

I'm not entirely sure how to handle this.

P.S. I'm developing using the Visual Studio 2010 internal web server and not fully blown IIS (although I plan to deploy it to that).

Use the DotNetNuke\Bin folder for the dlls your module needs.

You should include all required files into your installation. Files should be defined in the .dnn file in the section <files>. And sure these files should be included into Install.zip.
