I am wondering if there is a way to set up the Forum module so that a user can post a reply only to the author of a post, so that only that poster will receive an email notification, as opposed to every subscriber?

Thanks,

Bill

In other words only let the orignal poster subscribe to the thread? It doesnt work that way, but I cant imagine it would be too hard to do in code, but why would you want that? If someone wants to get notified, they subscribe, if they dont, they dont...

Let me clarify: I have a group of users that use the forum for notifications. The admins want everyone in the group to get the notification email. I set the forum up as a Notification forum, and set a certain role to receive the notifications. The problem is that when someone has a question or comment to be directed to the author, everyone else doesn't want to get all that email chatter. So I'm looking or a way to let everyone be notified by give individuals to ability to ask a question only to the person who put out the announcement. Something like "Reply to Sender" as opposed to "Reply All." But it doesn't seem to work this way, from what I can tell. Any ideas?

Thanks!

There is no way to set that up with the forums as they are coded now.  They could code something in giving an option to notify all subscribed users on initial post but if post count in thread is > 1 then notify only originating poster.  Maybe submit the feature request to http://dnnforum.codeplex.com/workitem...
