I currently have the Active Directory Provider, v05.00.02 installed and enabled on my site. I have about 200 user accounts that were automatically created trough this provider. I am now planning to move the site outside the AD to a DMZ and open it up for non-domain members to register and log in. If I simply disable the Active Directory Authentication Extension (Admin-->Extensions-->Edit Active Directory Provider-->Uncheck "Enable"), and then reverse the IIS changes made to facilitate the AD provider, will that impact the 200 user accounts that were automatically created by the AD provider?

Thanks,

Dave

David: I may not have the exact answer, but can certainly give pointers:

1) Are the users setup to log-in automatically or do they need to type-in their username (domain\user and password) to get-in. If they are set to auto-login, I have a feeling their password is either not stored in the system or incorrectly. You may need to reset their password

2) If you don't plan to use AD authentication, you are better off uninstalling it as it's a performance overhead of having the requests pass through AuthenticationModule for every request.

I'd recommend doing some testing prior to the move.

Ash, Thanks for the reply. My main concern is that I would lose the login accounts completely. I can reset the passwords if need be. I will test and let you know.

I unchecked "Enable" on the Active Directory module and then checked and my users were still marked as authorized and they still had their roles, but I was not able to log in as and of the users that were created through active Directory. I then uninstalled the ActiveDirectory module fro the DNN site and has the same problem. I restarted the website and still have the same problem.

Am I missing something? The users are all listed and appear to be authorized properly in the User settings of the website.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

As it turned out, when I removed the ActiveDirectory module, I had to reset everyone's password. Once I did that, I was able to log in OK.

Also, I manually edited the Users and ASPNet_Users tables to remove the domain name from the front of each username. The domain name was added to each username that was created while the ActiveDirectory module was installed. I did this to simplify the login for the users.

Everything seems to be working fine now.
