This could be my memory at fault.

The HTML module, has a tool (the Hyperlink Manager) to create and manage links.  I thought that a link to another page in the same site, created by picking from the drop down list, somehow referred to the page by TabId so that the page could be moved about in the site *without* breaking the link.  I feel *certain* that I have seen that behaviour in older versions of DNN/HTML Module

This seems to me to be fundamental functionality in a CMS.
Today (DNN 05.06.02) I moved some pages and watched open mouthed  as a the links to them broke.  I *AM* using the friendly URL feature.  Is it likely that the breakage occurs because of that?

Best wishes,

I you are using the URL friendly feature and you move a page then dnn will break - since the friendly urls do not reference pages by tabid.  And dnn does not have a native method to track the Old locations of pages and remap them forward to a new location.

Friendly urls work by dnn searching thru the tablist at runtime looking for a matching page name.
The same thing can also happen if you change the name of page or the name of a parent page.

If this is something that you are likely to do often you have 2 options
 - DONT use the friendly url system - and instead use the default.asp?tabid=50 format for your internal links
 - or have a look at the excellent url master module by ifinity - http://www.ifinity.com.au/Products/Ur...

It is a commercial module that lets you define redirects for old pages to new page - you do still have to manually set up the redirect list since there is not real way of the system knowing about which pages need forwarding on - it also handles 301 type redirects for these pages so that search engines can be updated with new page locations.
