I've had the same problem with not being able to access Site Settings.

In my case, this was caused by the upgrade to DNN 6.0, where it is no longer possible to have the same skin & container installed on both a portal and on the host site (_default). I had to remove all skins AND containers which were present in both places (mainly from the _default host place, since that would solve the issue on all portals). Uninstalling wasn't quite enough since my DNN installation is a little old, so I had to remove some of the skins & containers manually behind the scenes.

If this does not solve your problem, please post your error description. No one can help with an unknown error, but information leads to a solution every time (even if the solution is: that's not possible) :)

Hi!

I have had a similar problem as you. When I installed DNN6 everything worked fine. Then I loaded it into Visual Studio and started to build a module. When I tried to run it from Visual Stutio in debug Visual Studio changed the Web config for debugging. After that I wasn't able to get into module settings for my module and a lot of other buttons did not work. I then reverted my solution into the version that worked and tried to run it from Visual Studio again and the same thing happened. Then I just copied in the old web.config file and everything worked again. My suggestion for you is to try to find your old web.config and use that one.

When you change a installed site to debug mode in dnn600 a problem occurs that relates to the /js/DEBUG folder and its contents being missing from the install.

Download the source code installer and unpack it to a folder somewhere - the copy the /js/DEBUG folder into your websites /js/ folder/.
Once you do this you can set debug=true in the web.config and things will work correctly.

Basically the /js/ contains a set of minimized core javacript packages - when you run in debug - dnn switches over to using the files in the /js/DEBUG/ folder instead - this version of the files are not minimized - and therefore much more readable and debugable.
