This is my first post so apologies if I have posted in the wrong place or otherwise expose myself as a n00b.

I'm fairly new to DNN and am working on a DNN implementation for a large volunteer based government organisation and was hoping to get some advice regarding whether there were any preexisting news/announcements modules that meet our specific business requirements.

Basically what I'm looking for is a news/announements type module that allows content to be assigned to one or more categories. It also needs permissions such that users can only view content that has been posted to categories which they have been assigned to ( preferably using  roles/groups). Additionally as we use a decentralised news system we would also like to be able to specify which categories specific admins/content providers/mods can post to, and not be able to see any other categories.

Are there any modules (or core functionality of DNN i may be unaware of) which would meet this need? Or is anything even vaguely similar? Or will I be looking at a custom designed module?
