Hello,

We are using LetterBox with Document Exchange to provide a very simple browse/upload UI for clients to submit documents into the Document Exchange library.

Some of our clients use DNN Pro.  Does anyone know if Open-Document in DNN Pro can be configured to only present a simple, stripped down UI to our clients, similar to LetterBox?  Just a simple file browse and upload button that will drop the document is a specific directory.

 Thanks,
Chris

We place the LetterBox in a DNN page without any skin or container.

Then we launch and wrap the DNN page in a modal window.

Already answered by email.

I don't know the future features but you will be able to upload documents using the built-in File Upload module in future DNN versions.

For example, you could use a url like:

http://www.yourwebsite.com/Admin/File...

Some things to notice with this url:

1) You can use it in a popup but you should add the parameter popUp=true.
2) rtab=73 is the tab that will be loaded when you click on return link.
3) dest=Templates%5c is the folderpath of the destination folder, including the trailing /, and url encoded.
4) If you don’t include any dest parameter, the destination folder will be the portal root, but the user could change the destination folder by selecting a new folder in a dropdown.

The counterpart of this method is that you won’t be able to upload big files as you can do with document library file uploader.

Hi Ruben,

This is good news. The popup solution should work for us.  We can set the URL parameters in a custom settings page.

Questions:
- will the uploaded files by automatically synchronized with DNN File Manager and Open-Documents?
- will there be versioning control if uploaded to an Open-Documents folder?
- will the user's role be checked for upload permissions to the specific folders?
- is the built in file upload module/URL available in both Community AND Pro?
- do you have a link that provides more information on the upload control? This is all I could find:
- - http://dnndocuments.codeplex.com/
- - http://www.dotnetnukedocs.com/...
- what do you estimate the max size file that can be uploaded in the upload module
Finally...
- when using a PC, the popop should be a modal popup like the new DNN settings windows. When using a mobile device the popup should be a new/child window. Do you know if the popups will be different for PC and mobile?

Thank you very much!

Chris
