Hello All,

I have a DNN application, Ver 6.1.5 and I am using the highly useful Dataviewer module from Onyaktech.

Some of my queries take a long time to run.  More than 30 seconds, some are more than one minute.  The queries are already close to optimum.

The DataViewer module times out after a certain period - I think it is 30 seconds.  Is that limit set in ASP.Net, DNN or do you think it may be within the Onyaktech DataViewer module.  If it is in IIS or DNN's web.config, perhaps I can fix it myself.

You help will be really appreciated on this one.

thanks

Mark

Mark,
I would encourage you to contact OnyakTech as they will have the most knowledge about how their modules work.

That said, a little Googling on asp.net sql server timeout will give you some ideas for in code, in web.config and on sql server. Keep in mind the app session state might be the issue as well.

Also, I recommend running those queries while SQL Server Profile is running to try and identify any performance issues with the data/query itself.

Hi Steven,

thanks for your reply.

Since I posted, I have done a little more testing and have a more accurate description of what is happening.  When I return 50k records to the page, it works fine, but when I change that qty to 75K it fails.

I have sent an email to Onyaktech, so I will wait to hear from them whether it is Telerik or ASP.Net related.  As you may know, the Dataviewer uses the Telerik grid so it could be a limitation on Telerik's control.  I may do more testing on that tomorrow.

Thanks

Mark
