Quick questions when using the DNN blog module... why is it when a user posts an entry on the blog, it doesn't appear at the top of the blog (see http://www.insidertechnologies.co.uk/problemdnnblog.JPG ) and yet there is an entry that has been posted 'First Words' at the bottom of the blog.... here is what I did, as HOST:

a) added the blog to a page

b) created Sue's blog

c) gave the page and the  appropriate blog modules to Sue for viewing and edit

d) She added her content 'First Words' and

No.... it does not appear 'No entries were posted for this blog'.....?

Any help here would be appreciated... thanks in advance... Cheers Mark.

Check the time and date of the entry - I often get wrong data defaulting into post date and time fields - especially if I save as draft a few times, so I have learned to always check those before publishing.

Also ensure either All Users or at least registered Users have View Access to the page. Page Settings | Permissions.

This website is hosted on a UK server. I seem to remeber a problem a couple of years ago where an entry would take a few hours before it showed up at the top of the blog... Do you think it has something to do with time zones....? The time here is of course beyond the time above (for the post) so not sure what the backend is doing but it will be interesting to see if it moves to the top in 24 hours or so.....Cheers Mark.

Mark,

My blog(s) are also on UK/European servers and I am in Philippines, so I am sure time zones contribute to what I see. I assume that public viewing does not happen till after the server reaches the publish time, so I always allow 8 hours for the time difference. The blog author has his time zones correctly set but perhaps DNN/the Hosting Company are ignoring that setting.

I have never had a post not eventually show up where it should .

AFAIR Blog used to use its own time zones instead of relying on portal and user time zones. Are you using V 5 of the module?
