Hi All,

In dnn 6.0 onwards log4net is implemented. Is log4net is more powerful than event viewer or event logger. Why we have 2 different ways to log information. Which is better. Kindly clarify these doubts.

Thanks & Regards,

Janardhan

Here as per my knowledge, I think if user not able to login into his portals or DNN site then we can access the log file and we are able to see what kind of error is occurred. And if user or developer don't have access over the client db in that case also developer can access the log file and check the exception or error that occurred in the application.

regards,
Jana

Log4Net is generally targeted towards developers with many details about issues while DNN eventlog is targeted towards admins and can be configured via UI easily. Eventlog does not only contain errors, but may also be used to log, whenever a specific object (user, page, module, ...) is created, edited or deleted).

Hi Sebastian,

Can we avoid the entries into event log. For example if any exception occurs I am logging it into log file using log4net. So in this case it is a record is entering into event log also can we avoid this at any point of time where we require.

thanks

jana

for each event type, you may disable it to be logged in Admin > Eventviewer.
