Hi,

I am using dnn 6.2.3 community and want to configue ClientCapabilityProvider to use latest WURFL database. I want to know how to configure it correctly. Currentlly, I have created ~/AppData/WURFLDeviceDatabase folder and placed the database files there but its not working.

Thanks in advance.

DNN no longer use the WURFL database. 51Degrees.mobi data was introduced in 2012.

This recent video from DNN World explains more.

You can update 51Degrees.mobi data by changing the file pointed to in the 51degrees.config file contained in the root folder of the web site.

In the config file, it states:

<detection> element controls where the data files used are provided. If it is not present
the embedded device data will be used. This is the default behaviour.

Unless you are using the premium, it sounds like you may have to update the dll??? Not sure. I asked in the community "not stack" exchange.

When I originally wrote the comment I'd thought most people would upgrade the DLL and use the embedded data. There's no reason however why the line can't be uncommented and the latest Binary Lite data file from Codeplex used.

The Lite (free) data file contains less properties than the premium one, and doesn't contain the latest devices. For example; the new Blackberry ZT won't be included until the May release of Lite data. The Premium file is updated weekly.

There is also a basic paid for data file available in the DNN store which is updated monthly and contains 6 additional properites for tablet, smartphone, etc. It requires DNN 6.2.5 or greater.
