Hello,

RE: DNN 5.6.2

A little background...
We have a footer module which we placed on our homepage, then in the module's settings, we told it to place itself on all pages so we could maintain it in one place. I didn't add itself to all of the pages on the site so I went in and manually added it via "existing" module in "Add Module" until all the pages we wished to have this "global" footer appear on were populated.

The Problem...
When you create a new page, whether you are copying from an existing or not, we get about 40 instances of that "global" footer module. 40! We have to manually remove them from each new page we create.

Has anyone seen this behavior? Does anyone have any insight into:

  • Why this is happening?
  • If this is a bug, is there a workaround?

I spend about 20 extra minutes per page removing all of the unwanted instances of this module. That's a lot of time when we are adding pages for PPC campaigns. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Brett

My guess is that you have a large number of modules that are set to "display on all pages".

How you got all those modules configured as such I couldn't begin to guess.

Here's what I would do, in test if possible first.

Go to your homepage (where I assume you have a footer module that is set to display on all pages).

In the module settings deselect the display on all pages.

Go to the other pages on the site and delete any footer modules you find.

Go to the admin/recycle bin and empty the modules portion (if not pages as well)

Go back to the homepage and check DISPLAY ON ALL PAGES for the footer modules agian.
