Hi All,

I've been away from DNN for a year or so, but recently returned to admin a site I initially set up. First thing done was to upgrade from an early v5 to 6.2.

I've noted so exciting new features, including the Message Center. I am having problems however.  I am trying to add the "Messaging Center" module to a specific page, but I just keep getting errors. The Messaging Module will display, but I get a small yellow box saying "undefinederror". If I ignore it and go into settings, there is nothing relating to message center, just the standard settings.

Getting fairly frustrated with this. I'm finding it very difficult to find information on this module.. don't even know if this is the right place to ask this question, but can't find anywhere else :(

Any help appreciated.

The message center requires a fairly specific setup. It must be added as a child of the user profile page.

I would suggest doing a generic install of DNN and taking a look at how the profile pages are laid out.

On a generic install I am seeing..

Activity Feed
. My Profile
. Friends
. Messages

So then it would need to be a child of Activity Feed?

I wish I could just start again with a fresh install.. seems upgrading all these years is costing me :(

In the default setup yes. You can switch those around, but your profile page (In Admin -> Site Settings) must point to whichever one you have set as the parent.

Many thanks for your help.. appreciated :)

Firebug is reporting the following files missing.. no idea why it's looking for DesktopModules in /portalid/0 and no idea why it's looking for /API as that directory doesnt exist in the correct DesktopModules directory!

/portalid/0/DesktopModules/CoreMessaging/API/MessagingService.ashx
/portalid/0/DesktopModules/CoreMessaging/API/MessagingService.ashx
/portalid/0/DesktopModules/MemberDirectory/API/MemberDirectory.ashx
